stuff

Three things I learned in Time Arts:
1. How to use a Mini Disc recorder
2. How to simulate various sounds artificially
3. The definitions of several words pertaining to sound

Originally I thought I could do my research around percussion, being an avid drummer and all. Unfortunately, the limitations of the software and the course prevented me from pursuing such a topic, but I quickly found another: martial arts. I am a black belt in Uechi Ryu Karate Do, and have learned much in the way of both physical and spiritual strength. My Martial arts have shaped who I am as a person and have given me added confidence towards being able to protect myself. Hopefully I can express this through my project.

Why ART school?
Art is fun, so I figure my job should be doing something I actually
ENJOY rather than tedious or monotonous drivel.

What motivates you to work?
The feeling of satisfaction I get when I know I did the assignment
well, and expressed myself in the process. Plus, I need a job.

What do you think is necessary to be a successful artist/designer?
Creativity, improvisation, practice, dedication, motivation, patience
and nice people to give you quarters when you're living in a box on
the sidewalk.

If you had to choose between being a plastic surgeon and a police
officer, which would you choose and WHY?
Police officer, if mainly for the fact that I think plastic surgery is
gross. Plus I'm a black belt in Karate so I'm somewhat suited towards
that profession.

What aspect of your personality is most often misunderstood by others?
My sense of humor. I think life is funny, and like to laugh. Some of
my jokes work while others fall flat, but I keep at it because I like
making people laugh (and entertaining myself, too.)

If you had an hour to spend do anything in the world, what would it be?
I would sit on the beach at some tropical island, listen to the album
"Endtroducing..." by DJ Shadow, preferrably with my soul mate (whoever
that is) and drink ice-cold bottles of Smirnoff Ice.

Do any of the 4 work models describes you? Why or why not?
1. Channeler: you work spontaneously and consider yourself as a
conduit for ideas that are part of something beyond your individual
self.
I'm not sure exactly where all the thoughts swirling around in the
chaotic vortex that is my mind come from, but sometimes they are
pretty interesting so I try to express that through my schoolwork and
art.

What is your biggest concern or question in terms of advising?
I'm not sure exactly what I'm gonna do after college, or how I'm gonna
get a job.
